Use this checklist to make sure your next job posting covers all the essentials and attracts qualified candidates:
Job title: Keep it clear and straightforward so candidates instantly know what the open position is.
Company overview: Share a quick intro to your company. What do you do? What are your mission and values?
Location: Let candidates know if this role is fully remote, based on-site, or hybrid.
Job type: Is it full-time, part-time, contract, or temporary?
Work hours: Share the expected working hours. If it’s a remote role, be sure to specify the hours and time zone when they’ll need to be available.
Responsibilities: Give an overview of what the candidate will be doing day-to-day, focusing on the key tasks and types of projects they'll tackle.
Job requirements: What makes someone an ideal candidate for this role? Include relevant experience, educational background, or certifications. Be specific about what’s essential versus what’s just nice to have.
Skills: List required technical skills and soft skills like communication, collaboration, or leadership.
Team overview: Give an idea of who they’ll be working with and reporting to. Describe the team’s size, department, and role within the organization.
Benefits and perks: Highlight the benefits package (healthcare, retirement, etc.) and any perks that make your company a great place to work, like wellness programs, office snacks, or remote work stipends.
Salary range: Sharing a salary range can help set expectations up front, so recruiters and candidates are on the same page well before a job offer is extended.
Application process: Include clear steps for how to apply and what to include, like a cover letter or portfolio link.
Interview process: Explain what the interview process entails. How many rounds of interviews are there? Does the process include any assessments or test projects?
Depending on where you're located, certain details might be required by law (like salary range, work hours, or equal opportunity statements). Make sure you’re in compliance with local regulations.
